    John Deere Atrium

Hey guys, My father is Superintendent of Grounds at John Deere World HQ in Moline, IL. In the main building, they have a large indoor atrium and he took me in to show me and a few friends around. I the building is in zone 5, but all plants indoors are tropicals. The ficus tree are benjamin...

    Potentilla

They are actually really easy to work with, all you do it split the top of the branch (with a branch splitter like you would with other types of trees) and then they just peel all the way down the trunk. I plan to treat the dead wood with lime sulfur, but may wait until next year. Its kind of...

    Potentilla

Here's a Potentilla fruticosa that was chopped back from nursery stock. It has been putting on new growth, but lost a bit of its fragile foliage today in high winds that I wasn't anticipating. Dead wood is not done, worked on it for a little bit but then a series of storms moved into the area...

    burning bonsai

I tried translating it with GoogleChrome, but the direct translations are always a little messed up. When translated from Spanish to English it said: "and at night fire! ... think it's crazy, but the Valencia burn more expensive things in the failures and nobody says anything" I'm...

    Potential Juniper???

Im almost 100% sure that this is a juniper. Inner needs are scale needles and outer needles are awl (sp?) (the spiky ones). I removed quite a bit of foliage so that may be a reason that it has a softer look like a false cypress. AND i had to personally rip these out of the ground, and when you...

    Potential Juniper???

Alright here it is. This is a juniper (not sure what species) that i got from a work site that my crew was at this past week. Its about 2ft tall (its sitting on a 5gal bucket for scale) and the trunk is 2.5-3" in diameter. It has a few branches of dead wood that could be made into jin. Wondering...

    Doing Virtuals

Yeah the prices for photoshop are outrageous. Even for photoshop elements (the watered down photoshop). Fortunately I got a free copy from school:D

    Doing Virtuals

simple lines (though it could be a bit tough) could be done in a simple program such as MSpaint using the paint brush tool. But if you want to actually alter a photo to actually see what a tree could look like, a more advanced program is best. I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 (I believe its up to CS4...
