Do you get alligators in your pond?

I had a nandina about 10 years ago that I really liked. A hailstorm damaged it severely and it never recovered. The seasonal color was really nice though (green, yellow, red).

What? If you choose not to share, then what do we lose if you aren't active? That seriously makes no freaking sense.

Weather was ok, so I took a bunch off this one. Branch structure had been neglected, there were lots of dead twigs, and some insect damage. Hopefully this helps bring it back on track. Still needs a lot of work.

Weather permitting I hope to thin this one out tomorrow.

Here are update pics for a handful of elm trees. They all just got a little spring haircut to let some light into the interior branches.

Dallas Bonsai is basically internet only at this point, and not open to walk-in customers. Sunshine is barely bonsai, mostly overpriced tropicals and houseplants with some crummy junipers mixed in. I agree. After it settles into this pot I'm gonna put a guy wire on it and pull it down to the left. I'll thin it out and reevaluate when it drops its leaves.

Thanks! It's definitely an odd one, and the pot is bad for sure. I just didn't have a bunch to choose from at repotting time, and have never really liked this one enough to seek out a pot for it. I was thinking I'd find a good rock to plant it in eventually.

Three more years update...crown is getting a little heavy.

I gotta let it be for a while since I just repotted it, so I have some time to study it a bit. I kinda had in my head that I'd eventually put a guy wire on the first branch on the left, and pull it and the whole tree down and to the left a couple degrees. It still needs some tweaking for sure...

Crummy cell phone pic of another one that got repotted this year. I bought a Byron Myrick pot for it at the bonsai convention in Dallas a couple weeks ago. I'll try and get a pic of the pot later. The tree will have to wait a while for it's new home though.
