    Picea Glauca Yamadori test tree.

This tree is doing very well with vigorous growth and new buds in old wood. It shed one of of its main branches last winter, but I feel like that is for the best design wise. Now I can start working on the big issue before I start wiring it next year. I am hoping someone can give me some...

The Bonsai Nut custom title thread

It took me a second but I think I woke my son up with my laugh from that.

30 yo ground grown acer saccharum first cut

I pruned it this spring. It’s growing well. I have two more in pots. Some advice, do not be cheap with the sunlight. You can’t give it too much sun from what I have seen, but branches will die back with even dappled shade on them. I was struggling to keep mine healthy but I think I have...

    Picea Glauca Yamadori test tree.

Unfortunately we have a pesky boarder between us.

    Picea Glauca Yamadori test tree.

This old spruce seems to be finally taking off. The branch coming off on the left in the first pic doesn’t know yet if it wants to live. So far only two weak buds are extending on that branch. Depending on how long the buds end up extending and the number of new buds, I might try and wire a...

    EBIHARA BRANCH RELOCATION

I look forward to seeing this happen. I have been wanting to try this on a tree I don’t care much about but can’t currently afford the room for such a tree. Even though I am very good with a knife, the patience needed to trim sliver after sliver to get the peg to fit perfectly isn’t something I...

Can I collect Spruce Yamadori in the Fall?

I’ve collected three yamadori spruce in the fall and have repotted two of them each once in the fall and the last one twice, both times in the fall all over the last four years. No special over winter care but we don’t get more then a month or two of below freezing. I pretty much only repot my...

A Blue Bill Buxus Built To Be a Broom

I am using 40% diatomaceous earth, 40 % (that light volanic rock... brain fart) and 20% organic soil. I use the cheapest fertilizer I can find. I was given a bunch of bags of fertilizer by people and have just mixed it all together. I feed at half strength every day or so after I water. I just...

    Zip ties on bonsais

I’ve used zip ties to secure my trees in their pots back when I was starting out and didn’t have spare wire. They held the roots and tree remarkably well with the zip ties being flat. i might have to try it again and see how well it works compared to the wire now that I have a few more repots...

Thank you. The pond is a lot different then your last pics. Very nice. I will add The Pond Guy to my YouTube rotation for ideas, thanks for that.

    Questions from a well-researched newbie

As @leatherback said, you are loving them to death. The best way to stop that is go get more trees. When you have so many trees you can’t quite work on all of them every year, you have about the right amount.

New bonsai garden, including koi pond!

It’s been a year since you turned on the water. Can you post a pic or three of the pond? I’ve been doing a lot of research on ponds and picked up a decent amount of information for a beginner but didn’t understand how some of it went together and i just reread your thread and I have to say, your...

    Help!! Accident!

I would put it back and wait If it is still green. It might bounce back. It might die. For me a calamity is just aNother way to add character to a young tree and nice little story if it survives. Good luck

    Keep or Toss?

I would definitely give it some time for the buds to appear. I’ve had to Learn the hard way that root work and trunk chops the same year is a dangerous game. But elm...

What tree of yours leafs out the latest?

Every year I think my Zelkova died over the winter. Every year it starts to bud three or so weeks after my second last tree buds.
