I just noticed that I have some tiny silvery white bugs in my soil. With a little research I've identified them as springtails. From what I read they are not much of a danger and in fact can be a good thing in small numbers as they eat mold and rotten stuff. There are not that many of them, from...
I have used slow release on this particular bonsai for many years. I am not a stranger to it. I just got to wondering if perhaps I was using too much or too little. I assumed that the bonsai's needs would be different from your average potted plant so what I wanted to know is if there were...
So, I just noticed that one of my junipers got sun burnt at some point over the past 100 degree days in Cinci. The needles have turned pale green and they are stiff and some are even just falling off. I had been watering it every day but I guess it still wasn't enough. I gave it a nice long...
Thanks for all the tips. Just to be clear, I am referring to the old bonsai saying "Heaven and Earth in one container", so the translation could be the closest thing that makes sense in English. It may say something different in its original form.
Ok, great. Just to make it clear, the nights have been dipping into the 20s during those 30s days. It's a very similar forecast to yours. There was snow on the ground this morning and it's supposed to get up to 65 in a few days.
I am in Cincinnati and we have been having a real strange winter, thus far. lately we have been having shifts from days of 60s to 30s and sometimes in the matter of a day. Should I be concerned about my bonsais getting shocked or injured? I have 2 junipers under my porch buried up to their pots.
Just trying to ID one of these. My smaller one has small brown growths on the tips of some adult growth that look kind of like little pine cones. Any ideas for the ID. My camera died otherwise I would just take a couple of pictures
So maybe I should let this next year be a growing year for my Junipers? Don't touch them and see if they begin to get adult growth. My younger one I haven't touched too much and has some adult growth but not near as much as I would like.
