How about landscape Japanese Maple. You just have to dig and move yourself, not to mention hope it doesn't die.

The lesser trunk is about 1/2 inch and the other maybe an 1/8 larger. Its just over 16 inches tall. The tree is definitely to tall for its trunk size.

Smoke, are you recommending pruning back to get ride of the entire area you highlighted in red then redirecting the new growth to introduce movement?
