Thats exactly what it looks like, on some of the faster growing trees or the ones that have rough bark its no big deal but my JMs and azaleas will be permanently scarred

    Cicadas!

Every one of my trees has cicada damage! i thought i had them well protected, i had them in a 1/8'' mesh enclosure. One of my 10 year old seed grown JM's has about 30-40 spots where the females layed eggs. this is just a warning from NY watch your trees!

    New American bonsai

I wasn't questioning ryan neil as an artist, I have yet to see a tree of his that I didn't look at in awe. I just think it would be cool to see what he would do stylistically with a tree that he started from scratch. Everyone has that tree that they started from a seedling and do nothing with...

    New American bonsai

I am fairly new to bonsai, about a year, so my opinions in this topic are fairly uninformed. But i kind of agree with the guy stirring up all the trouble on the other site, but i think he went about it wrong. Dont get me wrong, I dont question ryan neil as a bonsai artist at all but it seems...

Are you sure this is a mango? I've grown several mangoes over the years and none of them had serrated leaves like that.

Any chemists here? I've got an idea for a bonsai sci-fi experiment

What I was saying was whatever you had to put in the gel to kill bacteria would possibly be poisoning the tree at the same time

This sounds like flasking orchids. The only problem is keeping it sanitary once it is exposed to air, orchids you have to flask in a sanitary environment and keep sealed, and if you put anything in the gel to kill bacteria how good can it be for your tree?

    Larch Stock

A while back in another thread of mine someone mentioned that larch do well in my area. Since then I've kinda become obsessed with them. Now, with all these spring larch pictures being posted the obsession has gotten worse. Does anyone know of a good place to find decent stock at a good price...

Since this is my first juniper, or evergreen for that matter i know nothing about pruning techniques, and things of that nature. Does anyone care to share their knowledge/experiences or know of any good books or articles on the subject? Thank you, Travis
