Thanks for the advice, I'm misting with SuperThrive too. I used the mixture rate the web site listed for "stressed trees" which is 1 teaspoon per gallon.

reply to NewWorldBonsai NewWorldBonsai-- The tree was at the end of a driveway on a steep incline in the shadow of another tree, maybe 2 feet from the road. Lot of traffic on the road, the end of the driveway is on an overpass for I-95 in North Carolina. When turning right out of the driveway...

Its not looking too hot, there is quite a bit of dying back right now, but it still has a lot of green on it, and it still has its little starts. I'm still misting heavy several times a day and have also started using SuperThrive to try to help it along. I will try to post a couple of pics in a...

Don't worry Rob, I am not giving up on this tree (I haven't let that thought enter my mind, AT ALL). I'm a long, long way from giving up on this. I was just out looking at it and there is all kinds of small new growth. I'm sorry, but I think its going to make it. If my determination has anything...

juniper update OK, here is another pic I just took at 2:30pm today (9/4/2013), mostly sunny skies. You will notice that it does not look nearly as yellow as yesterday's pictures. Like I said, yesterday it was about 6-6:30pm, cloudy, the sun was coming through the clouds. And before anybody...

Cory, The pictures don't give a true color....it was late in the day, the sun was going down, it was shining through clouds, it had rained a little before the pic was taken. I had not been watering the tree other than misting the foliage and trunk several times a day. The only water it got...

juniper update As far as color goes......the overall picture has a yellow tint (poor color quality of the pic) (its roughly 6:00pm, the sun is getting low and giving the yellow tint) pictures of the new growth and the tree itself is not yellowed. The following pic gives a better view of the...

Its been one month since I collected this juniper, with very little die off so far, just a couple of small pieces, lots of new growth to take its place. I'll keep the site posted of any new developments. I appreciate all of the help/advice I've gotten. Any thoughts on what I should do next...

little bit of wilting.... You're right october.....the wilting was there before digging. I haven't had the juniper long enough for it to do any wilting. So far, the tree is doing OK (but like I said, I haven't had it long). I really appreciate the interest in this and will keep everyone...

No, this cloth lets some light through, plus like I said, one side is still open (and its a long side) If need be, it will be easy to remove the cloth. We can get pretty bright, hot sun here. Thanks for the interest.

    New Squirrel Plant

It is not a pecan (pronounced PEE-can for all you folks up north). I've got 7 huge ones in my yard (planted in 1936), 4 different types. I have never seen a pecan with leaves like that. Usually when they sprout, it will be a tall, thin sprout with single opposing leaves. They won't have multiple...

Re: This will show the size....... Thanks for the welcomes, I'm happy to be here. Yes, I'm a newbi to Bonsai, but not totally to plants. If anyone wants to see this thing live, you can't compare to my wanting it to live. I know I have a lot to learn, but I don't give up easily either. Today...
