    TP Murasaki Kiyohime

It is doing well. I removed some wiring weeks ago. The grafts near top will take longer, because I don't want branches to get thick. I want to check the grafts near the future nebari later today. I've just been making sure it's healthy and alive.

    Black pine from Telperion farms

The same advice I get from my doc and the advice he tells his other patients, "Just leave it alone. Don't touch it."

collecting trip sedona arizona and california........

I'll miss the opportunity. I was in northern AZ and southern UT for vacation few weeks ago. Good stuff out there. I especially liked what I saw in Utah.

    Japanese Holly

Actually, they would call them ホーリー.

    Guess your best...

LOL. I wonder if it's a Japanese person's attempt at expressing "Petite Dome" with romaji.

Reducing Fern Size on Sago palm

What I do is cut off all the leaves if they are big already. The next set is going to be smaller. Then as I think they're about to grow a new set, I cut all the leaves off again. Been doing this for about 4 years to a sago palm I received from an uncle who had been doing the same to it many many...

    My young ficus.

@ Mat. Thanks. Yeah I got them wrapped back up with some plastic and misted again. It's in a place getting mostly filtered sunlight now.

    My young ficus.

The ficus lost some branches from the tennis ball sized hail storm a month or two ago. I did some pruning. Roots developed more, and I raised up the rock a few inches. This is going in the direction of cascade or semi-cascade. Suggestions are welcomed.

    Peach Tree #2 (~Daygan)

How's she looking now? I imagine there being and abundance of foliage and branches now. Perhaps when I'm braver (usually after some liquid courage), I'll share with you the nectarine I'm working on. Not much to look at yet.

    Maple 'red' leaf question

I can't tell for sure. There's a guy in these parts that grow maples; primarily Acer truncatum. He's got some patented. Before he gets them patented, it seems he observes them for 3 years or more. He's got one with interesting rough textured bark, but the thing stayed about 3 feet even after 10...

    Maple 'red' leaf question

I believe there's an expert out there that says that a Japanese maple's true leaves don't show up until about after the it's 3rd year. So if a seedling grew started out with peculiarly small leaves, dissected leaves, or red leaves, it may have different leaves for the later part of its life...

    Maple 'red' leaf question

Are you wondering why the one with red tinged leaf is growing vigorously or are you you wondering why it's leaf is tinged red this year or both?

Help, my bonsai is drying up and dying!

There's a small chance that a part of it might be alive as it's hard for me to tell just from looking at the pictures. If that plant doesn't make it, if it makes you feel any better, that juniper may not have been old as you thought. No offense but it doesn't appear to be beyond 3 years old.

I bought a Japanese maple the other day.

Based on appearance, your maple reminds me of my acer palmatum Orange Dream.

    JRP propagation by cutting attempts.

If they don't root, then at least I'll have an idea as to how long these stay green with some moisture and care. These buds might have been on there when I turned them into cuttings. I stuck them into this foamy material back in late February or early May. The only materials I used is the...
