Nice, flowers. They look like male flowers, I wonder if any of the others are female flowers. Would be extra nice to have some berries on it.
This is the first time in three years that either of the three plants have flowered, so I have no idea if berries will be forthcoming or not… But pictures will follow if deemed necessary :).

Omg I love these trees! I wish I can find something like these but all I find blueberry with thin straight trunks with no thickness or nebari 😞 or even any cool pitch pine

So, as much as I loved the three subjects of this thread, I knew they wouldn't do well here, being solid zone 7 cold hardy trees. I sold the small shohin to my teacher and the big stonker was sold at the ABS annual auction last fall. At Tyler's urging, I decided to keep one since I had a good place to overwinter it. So far so good... not quite show ready but not dead, either ;) .

My single yaupon continues to not die here in the frozen north...

As a reward for not dying, this one will make the move up from Turface to Akadama next spring!

... which will likely kill it😜
LOOKING NICE!

I had a Yuapon here.... It survived in cold frame.

Then got eaten by rabbits! 😡 (or stripped by squirrels)

What I took away from the experience was positive, though!

It CAN be done! With a relatively crude overwintering structure.

In My weird USDA 5a, but AHS 3 "Geographical Microclimate".

They'll do alright in "Mainland Michigan" 🤣🤣🤣.

My one surviving yaupon is in a shed kept at 32F-40F under T5 fluorescents. @Dav4 what is your secret?
I’ve got an unheated room off of my garage. I can dial in the temperatures during the colder months simply by opening or closing the windows. Right now, it’s 35° in there… May have fallen a touch below freezing overnight as I wanted to cool things off finally.
