What a fine tree, it looks so stately like something you would see growing near an old farmhouse or on a plantation. Now I want a crabapple again, not just any old crabapple though I want this one. Where did you say you lived in Alabammy. ;)

A better question would be to ask him where he collected it. I want one just like it:cool:. Really, I'd kill for a base and trunk like that.

I collected this hawthorn in March, the base is much better (flatter, more radial) than my older one. 9" wide at the soil, 3.75" at 3" up, chop is 16" high. It's in the ground, but can be lifted in the spring.

Very very nice tree Brian! And "wow", that's a also a really nice Hawthorne in the ground. Too bad I just blew my bonsai budget ;) That's a 'keeper' for sure!

Jumping on the bandwagon

Congratulations, from a fellow hawthorn devotee. You should be proud.

Make sure you buy lots of extra copies to send to your friends and family. Leave a couple copies at the dentist's and doctor's offices :)

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this but did not bother since I know it is beyond what I can afford. A sweet specimen of a tree.

If you get a much smaller one later you can part with, please let me know. I would love to own one. Thanks!

Congrats!

ABS looks like a good group and the journal a nice resource. I'm tempted to join.

Fluted trunk!
It's one thing I can't resist. When competing against other trees, the fluted trunk will always get my vote.

Gorgeous tree Brian.
