Nice white pine. Waiting for this lady to bloom. Her buds are all pink ready to pop. Here is last year's pic from the person a acquired her from.

Forgot: Scots Pine, my next victim. PS. Does anyone know how to rotate the photo, when a picture is shot in portrate mode this site insists on posting in landscape?

How did you do that without going to another piece of soft ware?

right click, save then open from where its saved and click edit... wala rotated lol...

Scots pine on the cover of ABS journal
Sorry I dont have a means to post the picture, but has anyone else seen the scots pine on the cover of the latest ABS Journal?
I couldn't stop staring at the picture when I got the journal a couple of days ago.
It is a beautiful tree.
Apparently the University of Michigan has started a bonsai garden and that is one of the trees there.

This is a fantastic thread. Kept me reading long past bedtime, so I had to say thanks to all for sharing. Sadly, none of my trees are anywhere near finished, but I am pretty excited about this dwarf myrtle. Growing very strongly, and I think in a few years it will be quite stunning.

That scots pine has very nice bark, branch placement and foliage, but the arial root creates the lack of a solid base and is very distracting. It could be fixed over time...and at the very least should be concealed.

Agree Brian, a very nice Scots pine, but that root was very distracting to me too.

Yes I agree that the roots are a bit odd and unbalancing to the tree as a whole.
How would you go about fixing such a problem?
