I'd love to get some creative ideas about how you display your trees. Here's some pics of mine, love to see yours.

Entrance to back yard, view of west fence.

A Grand tree to meet you on your way in. Also our Charlie Brown Christmas tree that gets a large tacky ornament all winter!! And a string of lights, because we need all the light we can get in the winter!!

South facing wall, gets good sun almost all day.

Those are the photos I've been waiting for. Very well done!
If I had a collection like that, I'd never leave the yard (mosquitoes be damned) :)

Thanks! But I'd really love to see what other people are doing as well. Not only are we trying to make beautiful trees, but a great display for them. Show us your yard or just a piece!!

My backyard is not bonsai centric...yet. Most of mine are still in training and not in pots. But you can see a raised bed of trainees. Here is my backyard from the deck. I am building benches for potted ones that will go up on the elevated deck.

I love the grasses blowing in the wind. It's nice winter interest as well. I see the smurf village! I always think there should be one playful thing in everyspace. Do you like your water feature? It's something I think about and then I wonder about the hassle.

I'm not much for the actual Japanese garden look. I like the mix of northern flower garden and bonsai accents. Thanks. Have you done all the work and how long as it been?

What's the white flowering vine going up the tree on the left? The white really stands out!

Glad you like it. The mushrooms in the smurf village are hypertuffa -sp? I made a couple years ago. Those are day lillies, cana lillies, peonies, coneflowers etc... there that were not in bloom yet.
The water feature is a 6 ft livestock tank. It has a filter under the rocks and water that comes out the front. It has plants and about 14 goldfish. It did have bigger shubunkin goldfish until last year when I caught a heron perched on the edge chowing down. Now just .29 goldfish. It is a chinch to maintain just keep the filter clean and in the spring I musk out leaves etc from the bottom. I really like the sound of running water in the garden.
The white flowers are a climbing rose - new dawn IIRC. Grows like mad.
I have done it all over the past 5 years, when I moved in the back was just a neglected lawn.
Over on the right side you can't see the hosta garden which I really like, about 25 hosta in there with coral bells.

The running water was the one comment I got several times on the garden tour last year. I might have to think about it.

Nothing better than the bright pink spike on the coral bells.

I like doing the landscaping almost as much as the bonsai. Same principles of design, just done in a different way.

So we just moved to this house in the later part of January this year. I have a lot of work that I still have to but this is what I have for now. I have future plans to move the shed in between the junipers and add a green house where the shed is now. I also plan to rework the walk ways. All my bonsai right now are pretty new as I am getting back into thungs from a couple year hiatus. I finally got a place to keep the trees safe from the kids and the Colorado sun. Right now its not much to look at, but here is what I got

I like the way you have the 2x4s in the block. It looks more stable that way. I'm glad I'm done worrying about kids in the yard. Mine is not very child friendly. Thanks for posting. It will be fun to keep track of the changes over time. 8 years ago mine was just grass and leftovers of a playground set.
