Dude, it's not the doxy that's making you sun sensitive...it's that cheap beer you're drinking...yuk!:p

I've heard of the preference for cascades to flow to the right, but you've got to work with what the material offers, and this is very nice material, so I'd go with what it's saying:). I've got two descent cascades...one goes to the right and one goes to the left. One of them was initially styled going to the left, but was restyled to go to the right because that was the better front.

Have fun with yours, though it doesn't look like it needs much work.

For me personally... I think the second pic is much better !!!

First off the trunk has way to nice of a gesture to be flattened
out... by this I mean in the first pic, the trunk just looks straight,
and the curve completely vanishes. This is a waste... this important
element of the tree is not being utilized...

Second, this tree has way to much still left on it... If you pick
the second pic, the branches and foliage should be brought in
tighter, and the top of the tree should probably be removed.
This will expose the deadwood that everyone wants to see...
But, remember, it is like a strip tease, you don't want to show
all the goods off at one time !!!

Lastly, when this is accomplished, You need a pot that is not
as tall. The pot is too big and is making the plant look small...
and will do so even more when the foliage is compacted.

Thanks!!!...You are on the same page with everything I was thinking also..including removing the top so the rear trunk can be seen!!

It is a tough call. However, something about the second pic screams classic or something out of the John Naka's books. Which I find visually striking and different. I was thinking pretty much what sawgrass' virt shows. That if pic 2 was used and you could get the foliage out of the way to show the trunk, you might have something incredible. I don't think you can go wrong with either view. I know it's difficult to chose. However, to do this tree justice, you probably should pick a definite front and work off that. I think it would do this tree an injustice to try to create 2 fronts. Not that is can't look good all around. However, there should be a clear front, sides and back. These are just my opinions.

I too like Sawgrass' virt but as mentioned in his reference to striptease, I would leave some foliage to cover that deadwood and help "break" the straight run. Maybe give it a few degrees turn to the left also.

Heres what I have so far, I brought all the branches in as tight as they can go, brought the apex way down and to the right . I may remove this apex but not till it starts filling in with more growth. Once this fills in and becomes tighter, I think it will be a sweet tree. Oh btw....when I repot this, it will be in a shallower pot and I will be changing the angle of the tree to come down more to show off the trunk a bit more.
