Here are a couple ficus I screwed up this year and last year. I bought them from the same guy and they were his attempt at bonsai.

This first one I broke the branches and trunk while wiring it. It is growing back pretty quickly.

This second one I accidentally let it dry out.. I forgot about it because I placed it separate from the rest of the plants. It also started growing a branch.

Thanks for looking

Bigger Ficus

This is a bigger ficus I have. I recently went through an cut it back but I really don't have a plan for it as you can tell. Its just that is was really over-grown. I think I'm going to cut all the branches and start over. Really I don't think there is any other choice.

They look healthy aside from the one that dried out. How long have you had them? I would think about repotting them into more inorganic soil. The last one you posted that your are thinking about starting over I would just let grow out and bushier so you have more options. If you decide to cut it back later it will pop more buds than it would now.

Ficus Updates

Did you say drastic?

I ended up cutting off all the branches in early August. This is how they grew back.

I finally decided what I wanted to do but as I started pruning I decided I did not like the top. It was two branches/trunks and I was going to get rid of one of them.

I ended up getting rid of both to start building the top over again.

Little Ficus

This is the little ficus. I think it has grown out enough so that I could start shaping it.

The problem is all the growth came out of the same area.

Little Ficus4.jpg

I cut all the dead wood until I hot live wood.

Pruned and wired loosely.
