CAVEAT: While there are those that consider me a poo poo head, mostly I am tolorated because of the contributions to this forum. There are those that contribute content and there are those that come here and use it and contribute nothing. That is what a forum is for. Give and take. I am happy with that arrangement. What you all don't know is what goes on behind the scenes. What happens in the Al world of PM's. Most of the time my involvement in generosity to a fellow member with either pots, plants, advice, display objects scrolls and the like goes unnoticed and anonymous.
Now with that out of the way....the story.
The pictures I will post proove nothing. So with that an element of trust must be established. I am ashamed of some of the attitudes in this thread and the unceasing interest for someone to post a picture. Do any of you even know if this guy has a camera or a phone capable of producing pictures?
How many of you have a digital camera?
How many of you have been frustrated because you can't compress your photo to the image limits of this forum?
How many of you have been frustrated by sideways photo's taken with a camera and no software to turn them upright?
While I think posting a picture is a very good way to tell the story, there is no rule on this forum that one has to post a picture to be taken seriously.
Fifth Element posted ( 5e from now on) posted a thread on a maple he purchased, and asked for suggestions. I gave a suggestion.
http://bonsainut.com/forums/showthread.php?12897-Opinions-on-maple
For whatever reason, 5e decided to Pm me for advice, as dozens do here frequently, because they are too embarressed to air their inexperience with most of you guys. I asked many questions about price and location, which was not present in the maple thread. He asked for a place he could buy a maple more locally.
(Ignorence here) I assumed ne wanted to purchase a maple by going to a nursery to see material to purchase. I suggested the growing grounds since he lived in NC and GG is located in NC.
About the time I gave the advice, 5e started this thread about the Growing Grounds. It only took a couple posts before he was directed to the MARK TORRPA thread and all the bad experiences. I might remind all you haters out there that I have not seen any pictures of poorly packed and damaged trees to proove any of those contentions either. So I feel it works both ways. I remember a year or two ago my posts about Oregon Bonsai. I was railed against for talking smack about such a place yet I did post pictures of bone piles and tree on the brink of death, so at least I did post pictures backing my claim and I HAD BEEN THERE, HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN THERE?
So.. I get a new PM stateing that he had a tree picked out and was ready for it to be shipped and now he has second thoughts. (Probably the reason it took longer to be delivered since Mark probably sat on it till that was resolved) That is speculation.
5E was not to happy with me for advising gg due to the thread. I let him know that I thought he wanted to see trees and not buy mail order but I was wrong. Had I known that there are many other people I would have reccomended. I do not buy trees mailorder. I touch everything I buy and have driven at least 400 miles before only to turn down a tree for whatever reason. I assumed and that was an error on my part.
Now the Op has stated that he indeed did get a tree from GG and that it arrived in good condition. He is happy with his purchase, END OF STORY.
Now all the new hatred starts because the guy won't post a picture that he may be incapable of doing. I read some down on your knees begging of a picture so sent 5e a Pm last night suggesting that he send me the pictures of the tre and I would resize them and post them for him. Thats the kind of guy I am you know humble and good natured.
What I did not realize again....assumed.... is that the pictures he sent me are the ones from the GG that was sent to him before he purchased the tree. So the pictures I show you are nothing more than pictures from a public web site that anyone can get. Due to the fact that we have PM'ed over two weeks to get this tree, I have no doubt that he indeed has the tree.
What you all have to do is decide if that is good enough, or is it worth beating this dead horse for a couple more weeks.
