A set of Bonsai tools.....
Christmas-2013+001.jpg

A nice large pot that I think I'll put one of the Yaupon's in...It's round about 14-16 inches in dia.

What I think is a Nana Juniper of some kind....That's what was on the tag anyway. The foliage is real small.

And a nice old cross cut saw to hang on the shed....Now just to figure out where to put it. I just stuck it under my make-shift roof over the stoop .

Hope Ya'll had as good of a Christmas as I did....

Nice. Seems like I am not the only one using a mechanics tool chest for bonsai work station. :)

Do you know if your Yaupon produce berries?

From either what I have read or what the homeowner told me about these I'm going to say no....But right now I can't remember why I think that.

Usually when they are nice and fat like that they are males. The females hardly get that fat

Nathan,

At least 3 of mine with approx 4"+ trunks produced berries. The rest are collected more recently and not established well yet so I am not sure. I think the nanas do not have any.

Great gifts Wee. I also received tools for Christmas. Tiny Roots master grade round back concave cutters, jin pliers, branch cutter and wire cutters. They seem to be well made, I haven't given them a workout yet.
Merry Christmas all,
Tona

post them next time they do, I would like to see that. Those will be great when they are refined

I believe so too. I have a couple pics at home taken a month(?) ago I can post.

I asked because the berries (being red) may not "pop" as much with the pot color he got. But if not, it won't matter as much. I am considering blue pot for mine.

I didn't pick the pot out, it was a gift but I think it's about the right size....They bought it for me to put the little nana juniper in...LOL

When I first opened the tools I wasn't that impressed....But after taking a closer look and using some of them to trim the dead limbs off my collected juniper I have changed my mind.....I'm sure they are on the cheaper end of tools sets but they should last me long enough to see if I'm in this bonsai thing for the long haul.

I got enough Home Depot gift cards to get the Quikrete and mortar mix I need to finish the brick retaining wall in my bonsai area.....I started digging out for the footing today. I hope to finish it before going back to work Monday. My partner seen laying down on the job wasn't much help.

Here are some berry pics on one tree. Not too good though.
Full tree with green berries (hard to see but there).

We raced karts and were karting forum members for over 12 years....Bonsai folks are way laid back compared to the karting crowd. It really does take quite alot to tick me off.

They show up in late fall on my landscape ones. Nice winter color.
