I have several chojubai, some quince in the garden for over 20 years, and some other plants I brought from SA and Japan.
I am only sure of the chojubai...the rest not too sure what they are.
Can you help ID them?
This is the quince I had for over 20 years in the garden. I dug it out last year and planted in training pot. Nebari is close to 40 cm ....multistem, with white flowers with a tint of pink.
I have been making pickle from the fruit.
Does anyone know what it is?

This one I got from SA. A friend brought it for me. It has red flower. I planted it in the ground.
What can it be?

This one I got in Japan. All my trees came in Oct. and reacted to the spring here and started flowering and budding. This one was totally naked and looked dead until a week ago when I saw a flower and few leaves,
I have no idea what it is, but it forms much fatter trunk than the two above and does not have suckers.
It had thorns as well while the previous two dont have.
Do You know what it is?

This are some of my chojubai and I know what they are...just to show you few of them.
The ROR has really old looking bark.

Would the tag have a clue on it? I think I see a "momiji" part of the hiragana. Not sure what the first syllabary that precedes. It looks like kanji for yama, but I'm not sure.

Should I take a better picture of the tag for you...it has something also on the other side...but almost rubbed off.

mountain maple is what the japanese translates to....not hardly.

I usually can tell by the leaf shape. the one with the extremely long pointed leaf, I've never seen before.

when you mentioned white/pink on the first one, I thought oh, easy toyo nishiki, but that's not the leaf I'm familar with.

can agree on the chojubai, nice bark with some age.....:)

sorry couldn't help but appreciate you posting.

We need to get fred Truck to take a look

It might help me. If not, it may help someone with better Japanese than myself. My knowledge is very beginner level.

If it actually says yama momiji then it could be referring to a location or business in Japan or it could be a mislabeled plant.

Thanks Darling...I hope Fred will manage...It is always better to know what it is exactly.

OK I shall take a better picture and ask a Japanese friend on FB tomorrow. But Japanese write very strange things on this lebels so I did not consider it much.

Maybe I confused all the names and also some of the names on the invoice were wrong...

..
Neli, the label reads yama momiji. You probably had the answer already since this is an old post.

image.jpeg This cutting is a positive Chojubai if it helps, but that big, long leaf one, not a Quince, IMO.
