Awesome trees everyone, that cascading Buttonwood is just ridiculously cool Dorothy.

So excited to finally get to style this Chickasaw Plum, it looks very similar to Ume and has that dark rough bark too. The deadwood is amazing, nature is the best artist. Second tree is a wild grape after its first styling, no detail carving yet. Side note: my Surinam Cherries finally fruited and I got to try the fruit which was well... interesting to say the least.

Don't believe I have posted any trees here yet... Wish I had one with no leaves to post of this one but that will have to wait until Winter. Amur Maple, big ole chunky trunk, nice root spread and a cool old wound carved out into a hollow high up in the branch structure. Generally with Acer Palmatum, you go for as few scars as possible, but this is a slight more rough and rugged type of tree with coarse growth and a little rougher exterior than the very feminine/ delicate/ clean Acer P... I think the hollow works with this tree... And if you don't agree, well you won't see it most of the year when it is in leaf any way! LOL the leaves are too big for some on these trees, but they are reduced pretty well on this particular tree when compared to wild grown trees or even younger ones with less branch ramification. I just repotted it this Spring. It leafed out about 3 weeks later than all my other Maples (even my other Red Maples which appear to be almost the exact same cultivar) but it leafed out uniformly across all branches and hasn't shown a bit of stress! These are thirsty trees, and this one has already spread enough roots to drink his decent sized pot dry as fast as the Shohin sized Amur that I did not repot this year! Clearly it is a happy, healthy tree!

Cool. I just picked an Amur up. How well do the leaves reduce?
Now I have to put one up.
Hinoki Cypress "Kosteri" check out the "beautiful" graft/trunk. All of that was buried in a clay ball when I got it.

I don't have much to say here but thought I'd post a few pics of some trees. Isn't hat what this thread is all about?

I have three- it seems to be a simple correlation of the smaller the pot, the smaller the leaves. But, in a small pot they dry out quick!

Here is a smaller one

Bump

Here's a bald cypress I've been working on for 2 years. When I got the tree it was about 6 feet tall, now its 12-16". It was already pretty disorganized yesterday, so I decided to clean it up and take a pic. Any criticism is welcome.

Casuarina shohin in new container ;)

Best,
Dorothy

Gorgeous tree! As always, your work is inspiring!

I guess I need to post a pic now, here was a little Azalea that got to be the center piece of our dining room table when I decorated it for Mother's Day this year. It just broke it's first flowers of the year ON Mother's Day which worked out perfect... I think the fact the flowers were pink made it even more appropriate. My wife seemed to like it.

Here's a buttonwood I worked on and repotted today. I don't have an inbetween picture but I let it grow untouched pretty much from picture 1 (Mid August 2013, it's initial styling) until picture 2 (today). I plan on finally taking a dremel bit to it this fall. Any advice is welcome :D.

Doing my part to keep this thread going; 60 pages wow

This is my one and only Montana Pine which is actually Pinus Mugo Montana. This is supposedly the species version of all of the cultivars of Mugo. I have had this tree since 1973 or so when I picked it up in Quincy Illinois when my wife and myself went to Quincy to visit my parents new home.

This tree is going to be restyled for the fourth time this year.

Here is the same tree in 2006, before the second or third restyle, I forget which.

Great trees everyone!

Nice Brian! We've had nothing but misty rain all week long in NJ. No signs of sun anywhere in sight... until this weekend it seems.

A. Palmatum Sharp's Pygmy. Pics from last fall.

Fine looking maple. I see the Sharp's pygmies every time I go to Brussel's and drool. I wish they would do well down here.
