Spent last week at Lake Tahoe and one day was visiting Emerald Bay state park. Of the two Ponderosa pines, one was seen within ten feet of highway 89 and the other from the parking lot. Could only image what else is out there off the trail to see.

The juniper is also seen from the trail heading from highway 89 parking spots to the main trailhead.

Eagle Falls

Here is a picture of Eagle Falls. Up at the top of the falls two additional trees could be seen growing in the granite as well. Not much water cascading over the top this year, just another sign of the drought that we are currently experiencing.

Fannette island

A peek of Fannette island which is the only island within Lake Tahoe and was carved out by glaciers during the last ice age.

Next year we are taking the more difficult hike since the kids will be a year older and more able to handle it. The upper falls is in the area known as The Desolation Wilderness and higher in elevation and more to see.

I'm sure you'll provide us with many inspirational photos :)
