Magnificent material!! WOW!! One good reason I also like amurs is precisely because of what you had said. They do not need any winter protection and can be left right outside. It is a very convenient thing about this species.

You had mention on your other maple thread about large maple material available at Nature's Way. Were you talking about amurs specifically or is it any other type of maple?

At Nature's Way Nursery they have large and very large field maples, Acer campestre, and Japanese maples, Acer palmatum, possibly a few A. ginnala.

Hi Walter. Will Natures Way be listing any trees on line, and shipping?

Love the tree, Walter. I've liked the fall color on my Amur maple more than my Trident. How do you think they compare to Tridents for bonsai if you don't mind me asking.

Well trident is the slightly better tree for bonsai. But Amur maples are special.

Looking forward to the progression of this tree. My A. Ginnala seedlings are just now starting to come up. Also have some of the A. Tataricum.

When I first started to research bonsai and pursue it on my own, one of the first renowned names I kept seeing over and over was Walter Pall. Quickly, your work became my favorite and specifically your maples. I still have many pictures that I took screenshots of so I could reference later and hopefully have something that even slightly resembled one of your trees. I am extremely excited to see what you share with us here and give us a look on how you do what you do.

I am so happy. Now the tree will grow freely, lots of water, lots of feeding, full sun. #By the end of June I will prun#e it like a hedge and then again by the beginning of August. In March of next year it will be fully wired. That's what you call instant bonsai.

I really like how you make it so simple- lotsa water, lotsa ferts, lotsa sun= lotsa growth.

Crazy cool tree!

Well, it is simple. I cannot understand why there is so much discussion about this. Just do it and concentrate on the artistic part. It is like discussing diets all day instead of living your life.
Couldn't agree more Walter and who could argue with your results? Some of the best Maples in the world!

I am intrigued by these. I understand that amur maple fall into the love/hate category, but I was fortunate to run across about 12 seedlings recently and I am quite impressed with the speed they are developing.

They do grow fast and in some areas of the US they are considered an invasive species. They are prolific seed producers.
