image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg This thread is going to be about my Fukien tea which I have named dragon lady. I repotted her into this orange lotus cloud foot pot a little over a week ago and have moved her outside on to my patio. She gets about 7 hours of filtered sun through a bamboo shade curtain, and so far she is doing good. She has lost about 6-7 leaves from the move but overall is healthy looking. She had quite a bit of aphids when I brought her home but with a few nutria treatments the aphids are virtually gone. I have noticed a few of the new leaves are coming in and the flower buds aren't opening so I applied a very very small amount of miracle grow liquid plant food in hopes of getting them to bloom. For now I am just maintaining watering/feeding and letting her do her thing.

Well good luck with Dragon lady. Careful with the watering, that's the tricky part. Pay close attention and you should get the feel for her needs.Feed her well this summer, And by all means talk to her.She will appreciate the conversation.

Thank you, I've been watering about every 3rd-4th day she seems to like it. I applied a piece of a chop stick that I saw people suggest in other threads to help monitor the moisture. It's been rather humid so it hasn't been drying out very quickly so I've cut watering to every 4 days.

Like ,grow you bitch?
Or if not I have access to chainsaws?
Those are the things and more of the like I say to my trees. It really seems to light a fire under their asses and get going or some just die from fright. Law of the jungle round here you trees! Go or blow! I'll plant you in the ground. Right where were running a mower next week.
Those are some of the nicer things to say to trees. Try it. It works.

No my watering can is bigger so I improvised by recycling a water bottle, I poked holes in the cap with a thumb tack, and that bottle there was actually mine, it was hot and I was working outside :)

I repurpose a lot of things, I made an outdoor enclosure for my bearded dragons out of a wooden rack from Home Depot that the Christmas wreaths are shipped on and a pallet, we use pallets for our vines in the back yard too. I might not be a believer in climate change but I do believe in not letting things go to waste, I love my planet too and I try to do my part no matter my beliefs!

I once jokingly told one of my scrawny plants to shape up or "I'll put you in the ground" and later, my neighbor came out to drink rum with me, and he says "I couldn't help but overhear your cell call earlier. Who were you threatening to kill?" With a perfectly straight face. It took a few dozen awkward seconds to figure out what he was talking about. Then we laughed and I poured him another. And then I told him he'd been roofied and it was unfortunate that he had overheard me threatening to kill my enemy. And he laughed and poured yet another. The more we drank, the funnier it got.

That's hilarious!

What is under all those big pebbles?
What kind of soil?
It is not my tree but if it were I would chop it back. Given ideal growing conditions these do grow pretty fast and back bud very well. Once the wood hardens off they are not shaped easily. When you have younger branches is the time to shape them.

Just some generic "bonsai" soil by soil mender. It was a Father's Day present so I kind of want to just let it grow for awhile until I am more confident I won't kill it lol

They are very fun trees and I like the color of the wood. I have never seen one that has a big fat trunk but that would be nice. They always look knotty to me on the trunk which makes them look older at an early age. The flowers are a bonus too. Enjoy it

It is a nice gift
