Here's what happens when you ignore a Ficus too long over a hot, sunny summer. Not certain I have the energy to defoliate this mess; a trim may have to do it. That'll put the defoliation off until later - or for someone else.

Maybe you can use it as a hedge, it allready has the right shape ;)

Yeah, well . . . that was nice.

That said, this -- sadly -- has turned into a very unfiggy fig, IMO. I looks more like a "bonsai" to me. I suspect this will go back to S. Florida with my granddaughter. She has expressed interest and it would be nice to have someone in my family continuing in the sport.

I'm desperately looking for a willow leaves ficus.

I know it would be very welcome here also.
It looks very healthy and yes it needs a haircut.
It is great that she can begin her bonsai journey this way. Nice job!
