People are always hating on ginseng so don't listen, mine was a walmart special like anyone else and this is a year and a half in my care. This pic is about 10 minutes ago after unwiring.

She kind of have a trouble with exotics which have to hibernate inside and now I have: the mother tree retusa, a ginseng I bought just to really abuse it and see if it could stop being that ugly (this one may die actually), this cutting and a plan for more trees as we are going to my mother in law's in Miami for Thanksgiving.
Some serious diplomatic talks are in order in the near future
I know the problem. But at least you are bringin in small trees. Imagine what my wife looked like when I brought this in, a year before this picture, when it was some 3 ft taller, and with fewer leaves....

Have you thought about what you are going to do about the fat roots? Start a layer perhaps?

I have been much more of a maniac with mine, the big balls, or tubes or whatever have been carved drastically.
An homage to Freddy Krueger from my sensitive soul... :p

Whenever I decide to not be lazy I'll go ahead and pot a smaller pot around the tubers with course bonsai soil and get some aerial roots
