Actually, about half of these pics came from pre-bonsai. The camera was only about $150 and is a standard digital camera. The best tree in these pics is the kingsville boxwood, which I will start a new thread for in about a week or so.

I love these little goyomatsu...I'll have to get my hand on one of them someday.

I would have more if white pines were not so expensive. I am thinking I might buy some seedlings in the near future. Back to this tree though, it will be styled this winter.

I would not buy seedlings...they tend to be weak on their own roots. Instead I would buy some JWP grafts from Brent and use those. He prob. has the best JWP grafts in the country and has some really rare varieties to boot!

BTW thanks for the camera and tree info. Still enjoyed the pics either way!

I will consider that, thanks.
Yeah I loved the pics so much I just had to post them. Your young, you must be on summer vacation like I am. Go outside tomorrow with a digital camera and give it a shot. My camera has an option for close up pics, thats what I used.

quality macro pics has everything to do with "depth of field" meaning focus range is very narrow and anything in front or behind will be out of focus. Boketh refers to the quality of background blurring. Most point and shoot can't produce as much depth of field as an SLR so make your your background are free of objects. In your picture I see lawn furniture, bench, pots, etc. You're pictures are going to be a lot better if you set your tree on the lawn and take a picture with the green background. Also lighting is important. Dont use flash and wait for late afternoon when the light creates interesting shadows.

Hey Shohin Kid,

I took some pictures! Actually I've been wanting to take some pictures for a few weeks, but for some reason it hasn't gotten done....probably involving Driver's Ed and all of the other things that makes summer so hectic......

Anyway here are some pictures.

1st and 2nd are Zuisho White Pine
3rd is 'Alpenweiss' JM
4th and 5th are 'Beni Hime' JM

More on the next post
