I've got a couple of Chinese Quince because I loved their red leaves in fall......
still waiting three years.....
I think I might feed too late.....
At least they grow like crazy, at least 4-5 trims a summer.
Maybe this year....share-a-shot if they do:(

Chinese quince have loooong growing seasons. Mine are still growing a little, and just barely starting to show a bit of color in the older leaves.

Thanks BVF.....maybe I'll leave early and take some shots anyway.
Have noticed a little extensions here and there....
Curious if cherry trees have the same proclivity....mine seems to be STILL growin'!!!!!:D

My cherry trees (yoshino) seemed to grow hard until July, then quit unless I pruned them. Constant pruning seemed to encourage lots of sucker growth which needs to be rubbed out. And at the same time, most of the mature leaves start falling in early September. Cherry trees can be pretty rough looking July-leaf fall.

Hard to believe, but your crape is further along than mine. Actually none of my bonsai are turning yet except for the ginkgo. Been very very warm here overall for fall. The landscape maples have just turned over the last week, and are peaking now.

That is what the "Chop it low or let it grow" tree I posted does. September and the leaves are almost all gone.

Cuz I don't like the "silly" part.
I think this is a tree you either love or not. It's got leaves too big, the thing is too tall for itself, but I still love it, it makes me happy. But not a serious tree, a silly sort.... Not in the derogatory sense of the word.

I like it a lot, individual leaves can be imagined as branch "pads" and the scale is alright.

It was not too hard staying still.I really like that pond.It is more like a lake.Predominantly maple and sweet gum trees. It is a change from the beech and sycamore trees around my house. The maples hang out across the waters edge.It really is great and interesting to paddle slowly along the edge and observe nature. It is a blast watching the birds of prey fish through out the day. There is loads of them.
