Some places around here, like at the McDonald's Corporation where covert fishing missions take place......

They got big limestone slabs around the lake, when they split thin, they make right good slabs.

You could Probly split that thick flagstone.

Abandoned quarries.

I always see ads free on craigslist for old cutout sections of scrap counter materials.
A sink cutout is a nice size for a slab!
You might even be able to ask the guys there if they have anything to help you split em....

Thin slabs scare me, what if they broke?
I'd be inclined to fasten some 3/16 plate steel to the bottom, so it never splits.

Also....there is a dude making dope ass slabs with concrete, layered and real, real nice.

These patio slabs/pavers near my work are always cracking and splitting off chunks. I stroll around on my way to the streetcar and can sometimes find some nice (smaller) pieces. courtyard.jpg
