People here, used to propagate the olives this way. They cut a shot from a base of an old olive and plant it.
Mostly for keeping that same variety. I was walking through some olives nearby and think why not to take
a couple of cuttings with some character.

Yeaah, a couple, it's like a kid in the candy store . Hope I'll have some green in couple months to update this.

That is the idea, to have that bark in the bottom, for now it is slightly covered with the soil until it pushes some roots. Otherwise it would be nothing interesting in those cuttings, can be bought this size for couple bucks in the nursery.

I'm seeing more of a clump style here in your material. In my minds eye...raft is long...Google images have many to look at. (But that is what I envision in my minds eye)
