The juniper is still doing well, but as I've been watering it I've noticed that a section of roots at the level of the soil is becoming more exposed. They were showing a bit when I bought it, but more and more roots have emerged since then. Is this a problem? Should I cover them with more soil?
On the topic of soil, I've been doing some research on what kind of soil junipers like, and found on this forum the suggestion of a mix of 1/3 akadama, 1/3 pumice, and 1/3 lava. I'm not planning to do any repotting on it this year, but I'm just wondering for the future. I have a mix I've been using for some of my other trees that is 40% pumice 40% calcinated clay, and 20% pine bark fines. Would that be suitable to use for a juniper?
Lastly, I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what species of juniper this is.
Thanks!
