I think this Deshojo will be a killer with red & green leaves as a combo with this pot. Mighty trunk. Very nice choice and work.

Thanks Peter, I think it's one of my favorite combos right now.

Here are some nice leafy shots of a couple of these chickens... The tree that I was told was a deshojo (not the twin trunk) looks to be some other cultivar when I compare it to the twin deshojo. Wonder what it really is. The bark looks different than green mountain maple. I did find a really great fitting pot for it, it's so much better.

Judy.Great trees.I was admiring this tree too.Should be rather cool.I like how the barked up stubs that you begin all the branches are really stocky.Very cool;)
I could go on and on,love that elm too.Nice trident.Perfect size ,one could say.

Really nice trees, Judy. I especially like the pot pairing with the cork bark elm. Did you have it made for the tree?

Nope it's a KOYO. The first really nice pot I purchased.

Got a bigger carving tool, should be fun. Later this week! Your deshojo looks really nice I think, the blank branches all have buds on them, they are just slower than the rest.
The clump is very shaggy, letting it go wild right now...

This...
Of course this is after just the first go round with a chain saw. Carving with more detailed tools comes next. I think the tree may be better without the left trunk altogether, but I'll wait and see. The right trunk will go shorter, just waiting for a bud to pop first.

what are you going to do with the two small stumps, Judy? are you planning to leave them as is/refine later or hoping for them to back bud? I like where this is heading though.

If I get buds on them I'll probably keep at least the right one. It actually had a branch on it at the top of where I cut it off. I'm sure it'll push a new bud there, but I'm hoping to get something a bit lower. Not sure about the left one. I think it may be a stronger tree without it.

You may be surprised though. After such a hard pruning you get buds popping on them two little trunks and may be quite useful.Grow some thick leaders and have a grove of crabappleo_O

Did you Deshojo leaves emerge that glorious red or did they take a bit to get there?
Great looking trees. Thanks for sharing all your work!!:D
