Nice - what variety may I ask?

Disturbing - In 2014 Nail Polish and a Floral top?

Honest though, the flora is "different" to me, not certain I have ever seen that blossom.

Had always assumed it was Kojo no mai...or something like that...prunus serrulata?? Think that's what the tag said as opposed to a specific variety.o_O;)
Fun tree, grows like a mofo....:)

Ah, the way it was presented it inferred it was you busy with the child  Thank you for clarification :p

I find most types of Cherry grow like that! Makes them a bit of fun in my opinion :)

In the right setting, I find a floral top can be appropriate if properly accessorized.:p

I draw the line at nail-polish, though...too much work!:confused::p:D
Here are some horrible, poorly lighted photo's from Sep. last year. No lie...this thing grows!! No problems with it crappin' out during those normal times associated with these. Ya' know, high summer these things decide to sputter along, yellow up and drop leaves. At least that is what I get from other growers. After I repot, I'm sure it will resent me!!:(

Yeah, mid summer my Kojo No Mai's tend to crash. A deeper pot, cooler roots help. Leaves yellow up, some drop. Last year I had a second flush of growth and leaf push at the end of the summer and early autumn. Good luck.

I do recall your posts, @whfarro ....I don't think this is avoidable, these high summer blahs! Had lots of yellowing as well. This tree has been in this same pot....well, had it almost four years, checked it out at Bonsai West for nearly two, and probably hadn't been repotted for at the very least, 2-3 years before that!! Not sure if that's pertinent or useful, but that's it's story!!:)

I'm tempted to repot into something more organic...I'll try to get some pictures when I repot, show what the root ball reveals!

Let's see if we can figure these out and help each other along!:D

During our hot spell in the Summer the leaf on our Yoshino started to yellow and drop two Summers ago. What I had noticed is that many of the leafs dropping were caused by small birds pecking at the base... I treated the surrounding ground with a systemic even though I did not see an obvious bugs. I used http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/criterion-75-wsp-systemic-insecticide-p-1443.html. One treatment, done deal. Last year as the hot spell approached I did the same and did not experience any yellowing or leaf drop... I plan on the same this year.

Just sharing ;)

Have you ever tried growing any Fruit tree in a large 12 to 15 gallon container in organics? The growth rate is off the hook here...

Looks good though!

Some stone fruit types and some citrus, whim purchases as it were....:D:D:D:D Most not quite that size but some with a typical landscape nursery type soil. Similar. Winter just gets a pain bit cold and never really took it seriously. Bug magnets, fungus.....you name it. A little too much extra effort.:mad::D:D:D

Rough year for tree pictured. We'll see if it wakes up next spring.;):D:D:D:D Can't win 'em all!!!:rolleyes:o_O:D:D:D:D:D

I repeat Darlene! :)
And I do like your cherry, independently of species.
You can make it a beautiful bonsai in a reasonable time because these Pruni are strong growers.
My experience with cherries as a garden tree is that they can loose big branches for no obvious reason, though....

I have been working on a draft outlining growing them without a LOT of problems or need for serious chemicals. Been aweful busy so I will probably post it after the Holidays.
