You were supposed to start a new thread.

Call it....Sasqwatch Haircuts!

You're making the cherries nervous!

Sorce
Nervous? I'm not the one that cut the cherry prebonsai with a STIHL!

I had to chain saw an old collected azalea last weekend. Found out this week that there was poison ivy in it. Hello PrednisoneAzalea.jpg CW

Well, did some carving, a little styling to this misfit and what do you know......flowers. Not sure if I like the carved side or the bark side. The top of the tree is tilted forward on the carved side....maybe a round pot. Hard tellin'....not knowin'. I've never seen one of these done as a bonsai even after a google search. That might be for a good reason. The foliage seems a bit coarse, but that may change with some better ramification.

Well not bad for 3 growing seasons. The tree is getting stronger as well as its flowers. It'll get another top chop when its done flowering. The leaves are a bit coarse, but so what. I can see this being a little snowball eventually. Through it in the corner when its done. I cleaned the bark and was pleasantly surprised by the spots of white. Might be time to ponder a real pot for it. The tree seem to abort some of the flower buds which seem healthy......any advise?

Fabulous! Those flowers ? just looking at the way they cascade makes me happy.
We’re the aborted flowers on a weak branch? Maybe they got too wet at one point, sometimes that can get them too.

Thanks Judy. Do you mean the bud itself or the tree getting too wet. The aborted buds were beside fully flowered ones or part of a healthy cluster. Just wondering if the tree will support so many and after that......oh well.

Good to see the tree make it. Only thing is that those flowers are "Kwanzan" flowers not "Yoshino".

"Yoshino" are typically white, some very light pink. "Kwanzan" are the last of the flowering cherries to flower.
