Looking for a pot for this one, any suggestions? Thinking something round, maybe light blue in color. Somewhat shallow.

Figured I would add a picture too. Lost all the fruit after allowing it too dry too much on accident one day.

I really like the moss:

If it don't look good in a dark clay lotus...
It would be a good transition of deepness IMO.

I don't know how these take to rootwork, or what kinda roots they make....

But if you slip it into a colander this year, (or not even?) and put more soil on top to keep your shallow ones good...

You could Probly cut the bottom off next year to get it in...

I like the pot....
Tropical? Pot to cheap to freeze?

Yeah....I think it would be a good transition of deepness...

And the rough bark compliments it IMO.

Is this for next year?

It's for this year, the summer while it is growing strongly to be exact.

I just want it in something to look good on the bench that is bigger than what it is already in.

Yeah it's a tropical! That's why Anthony was such a big help. Now that he is gone, I dont know how they take to rootwork either! I guess we will find out!

I dont really want to repot it into a colander as I dont see the need. I want to cut it back hard to get some twiggyness.

The current pot is roughly 5"×3" for reference....

Pretty sure Anthony would be happy to answer a PM!

He also said I could hit him via email...
If he don't answer I can try to dig it up and have him contact you.

Not to hijack a thread JoeR, but here's my Barbados Cherry. It's still rather small, but when it comes time to pot it, I'm going to put it in a relatively shallow blue-green glazed oval pot. I'll try to take a good pic of the pot.

I did get it at Wigert's last year during the open house. I thought about putting it into a colander, but I have been pretty much ignoring it. I've kept it outside, my only worries with it have been the wind.

It's just about to start sprouting some berries.

Sorry for the bad pic, I just can't seem to get a good angle on it.

Update:
About a week ago, I noticed this tree back-budding all over on the interior of its branches. It is also growing strongly. I figured no better time than now to cut it back hard- hopefully it will invigorate the back buds and come back strongly. On most branches I was able to cut back and leave a large green bud OR leaf or two, but that wasnt possible for all branches- so lets hope that they will live.

As far as design, it will be repotted at a different angle and will need a new branch grafted at #3 (got some cuttings rooted for said purpose). Branch #2 and especially branch #1 will need to thicken considerably as they are not proportional to the top. Branch #2 also needs a lot of work, as of now it is quite a mess. Wiring will just break it- found that out the hard way today. Broke a good branch.

Joe,

still here, rain washed out concrete casting in Mayaro, and will probably do so for the next 3 days.

Go to IBC and see if you can attract one of the Eastern Tropical folk [ Mr. Budi Salistyo or Jun ]
they have mastered this Cherry. Use images.
Thus far our best efforts are in the ground, not the pot.

Never tried wiring, clip and grow only.
Wishing you all the best.
Good Day
Anthony
