Bought this Chamaecyparis thyoides around fall 2014 in the early 'mass-acquiring' days. Hadn't got a clue where to take it, so in june 2015 I took it to a workshop for some tips. No work was done on that day to the cami, as I had less clues about how to butcher up a juniper.
So, I was a Juni cascade and a bunch of ideas richer, and at home, a few weeks of pondering later, I barerooted it, pinched it, cut it, wired it and styled it.

Guess what.... Motherf*ucker is still alive!

Sadly, the pre-abuse photos are hiding pretty damn well!

Took it to the sequel (2016) workshop, to get some extra ideas and feedback. The apexes (apexi?) of both mommy and daughter were cut off, so shit looks way better now. I got this reaallly nice pot from Henk Steneker, into which I directly put the tree the day after.

The fugly blue pot was its previous home. Thanks to Henk it ain't anymore!

Now, detailwiring is on the planning, Those branches on the left have got to be sorted out, more moss has got to be applied to the 'walls' and the empty hole would like to get stuffed. Betcha ass that's not the first time you hear that ;)

Thinking of putting some small ferns/cotoneaster in the empty hole. Ducky pond is also an option!

See? First left branch on the 'main trunk' gets all messed up with some backbranch.

The branch stubs are to be left on, as I like 'em. Are all over the place in pine forests around here.

Comments and suggestions more than welcome!

It's a nice cool project man, the only thing I feel is that the tree is leaning away from / out of the composition. Perhaps turn it 180 degrees next time?

Nice,

I'm glad you got lucky. I (& others) preach ''go slow'', because of the huge compost pile I already own, entirely of dead bonsai and pre-bonsai. Your tree must have been healthy going into the styling, and your after care was good. Try to give this tree 12 months before any further work. Wiring in late summer or autumn should be okay. Instead of repotting, I would use wiring to change the direction of lean. When looking at the photo The pot requires some movement from the tree moving toward the currently empty bowl. The main tree and daughter tree should lean slightly that way towards the bowl. In addition, Apex should ''bow slightly toward the viewer at the same time. Realizing this planting is early in training, this is a near ready to show detail. Overall well done. Woild like to see updates in the future..

Thanks Leo! You're completely right. After a sickass killing spree I decided to slow down, but by then the evil had been done already! I'm really glad it survived too, and I hope many updates will follow :)

The left side is the front. The little trunk apex indeed leaned a bit backwards, but that was easily fixed, as the wire was in already.
Now, no touchey anymore, first see how it takes the recent events. Maybe I'll turn the pot (the tree will keep this front that way), so the flow is the right way. I think both sides can be used as front, but Henk indicated this front, so for now I sticked to it.

I'd like to see it with little one right too.

Thanks Sorce! Nice idea, I'll do a virt in the next few days, so we can see what that looks like. Maybe I'll put a second one on. Or maybe a bunch of second ones!

Bedankt man! It was leaning a bit away indeed, but I've cut all eyepokers away, so if I'd turn the tree a 180º, I'd be left with a bunch of new eyepokers and a bare backside. I can turn the pot a 180º though. That would help in the flow, too. The apexes can be easily wired (as can the whole tree actually). The wire that's holding the baby trunk in position is 1.5 mm thick. I had wired it with 2 mm all the way to the top, to straighten the mama trunk, but the wire was bright purple (can't beat 0.5€ per 100 gram hehe) and Henk made me take it out, as it isn't christmas yet!

I'll upload a pic with size indicator stuff tomorrow!

With a 33 centiliter (330 milliliter) Warsteiner Radler.

The cultivar is 'top point' by the way. It doesn't make scale foliage, only juvenile stuff.
