honestly the side with the big circular scar is AWESOME. its almost fantasy like with how exaggerated with the proportions are and how fat and happy it looks. I love it
Would airlayering above the roots be a viable option? Cut a ring next year and dunk it in a deeper pot to establish itself
I couldn't agree more. With trees like this, the charm is in the irregularities. The large, asymmetric base and gnarly trunk make the tree, so highlight them instead of trying to fix them.I would be interested to see it lifted out of the pot a bit. I think with these trees that have a large root structure like this already, there isn't a lot to do with it, other than run with it. Unless you layer it, but part of the trees charm is the flair of that big base. I have several trees that have these types of root structure, and they can look fitting depending on the style you choose for the tree.
Interesting, though I don't think that really affects what I meant thoughthis tree is 6inches tall from pot rim
Well said. Don't try to fix it, accentuate it's ugliness that it becomes beautiful in its grotesquenessI would be interested to see it lifted out of the pot a bit.
