It's raining - seems like a good time for beer and a lightning struck tree! I recently cut this foemina back again; looking forward to getting it in at least a training pot come springtime. The branches have risen some since the wire came off, so I'll need to crank them back down a bit more . . .

These are all 22oz bottles, by the way ;)

I have found Prostrata un-cooperative and unwilling to submit to my will. I am sure it is something I am doing wrong but there uya go. This tree is certainly worth a try of the highest effort.

Thanks. While I'm not disinclined to work with the prostrata foliage, I think this trunk is a good candidate for a "change of clothes" to itoigawa or kishu, hence the spring grafting possibility . . .

I know that there is a tendency to favor Itoigawa by some of the growers on this site. It seems to be a cause celeb of Shimpaku Junipers. It is however difficult to control and takes more effort than the Kishu Shimpaku which has very fine foliage and lacks the tendency to go juvenile at the least provocation like the Itoigawa. So---if you are going to graft on new folieage do yourself a favor and go Kishu.

Ol' "Chunks" is/was a "performance artist", so I'm sure he/she will already have become accustomed to being stiffed.

The clown market is on the rise, however....places need to be filled as work becomes plentiful in D.C......obviously, they will need to be big.....

;)
