I am still relitive new to bonsai but I've always had something for rare an exotic objects. After I read about chojubai and how hard it is to come by, I suddenly fell in love with them. Got one in the mail today from Don Blackmon, and purchase 2 cuttings from Maruyama. BTW thanks Don for giving nice deal.

Lucky bastard you are! :p Not one but three lol.

Wished I could afford one myself. I only got a Toyo w/ them big ole leaves and flowers, from Home Depot.

Hope not too much to ask but do you have pics of the each without the busy background? Don's looks exceptional. and the second one too.

And how about some pics of the Spruce and Yew(?) in the back in the first pic? Maybe in a separate thread, or are they already posted?

Where you located?

Lol. I will post more pics tomorrow cause I'm currently not home. The trees in the background are itoiwagas, redwood and kishu cuttings. I will post more pics of those also if you like. I live in California and I'm pretty lucky that I am pretty close to Maruyama. Maruyama got lots of pre bonsai/ bonsai for a reasonable deal.

Very nice, all your Chojubai are showing the beginning of the silvery rough bark that makes them unique. Well developed Chojubai, like the one from Don are indeed rare. Young cuttings are moderately common, if you get your reservation in. They sell out fast. I got a young one two years ago by putting my name on a waiting list with Brent at Evergreen. It was only $10, plus $4 for shipping, he listed them in January as being available in June. Sent him a note and money right away. By Feb he listed the June batch as sold out. Got my plant June of 2014. It will be a while before silvery bark forms.

I found that small specimen plants of Chojubai are not as cold tolerant as the large leaf types. There are other excellent dwarf flowering quince that are excellent for bonsai, and are easier to get. Hime and Kan Toyo are my other favorite dwarf flowering quince.
