so I think I've seen evidence of a few other metal heads on Bnut here. Me, I started out in his going to a White Zombie concert at 17 in the 90s & was hooked. Went to tons of shows (as much as the Midwest had) & listened to mostly mainstream stuff in the late 90s, System of a Down, Megadeth, Metallica, Ozzy, Coal Chamber, Fear Factory & many others. Then I started going to Metalfest in Milwaukee with a friend & completely switched into new unbeknownst avenues of metal. Started listening to more True, Viking, Folk, Power metal. A little black metal for awhile a decade ago, but the others are what it is now. Just thought of this after getting new music yesterday, it's mostly European, some American, like Manowar has been my new favorite for the last 18-20years or so. So check back here if you like Metal & are curious what else is out there that your unlikely to hear on the radio.

I am more of the Dark Unholy Metal type although my Wife listens to it and many other types of Metal and Metal or some Goth only. She has a 400W Fender Custom audio sound system in her car and the radio has never been on, just 2800 or so various pieces on the SD card. Kind of interesting as she has an account at Death.FM so we can preview a lot of it before purchase or going to see them. A BIG advantage to where we live is we are close to Philly and Reading and those types of venues are always available.

I've been a metalhead since I saw Judas Priest in 1986. This summer is looking good, with Iron Maiden and later Alice Cooper with Deep Purple. I'm finding that my knees aren't as into standing for hours on end at venues without seating anymore.

Yeah, really lookin forward to it! We will be going the full 3 days, camping at site. It will be the second time I see Rammstein and a couple of others. Can't wait for Steel Panther, Alestorm and Deep Purple!
I was hoping for a little more deathmetal and a lot less emo stuff, but they will be announcing a lot more, so maybe!

Alestorm came near me in Minneapolis MN (5 hrs away), would've loved to have seen them live. Apparently this one is named after a bar in RiverFalls WI, where my friend lives who I stay with when I go to shows in Minneapolis.

First concert I ever went to was Rush in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin, July 4, 1981. Can't say I have ever been to a better live show.

They are on my bucket list.... Ive never seen them live.

One of top five bands of all time in my opinion.

5 hours is near? :O
That's from Amsterdam to Paris! That's huge!
My first show was Fortarock in 2013. It took place in Nijmegen, about 5 quarters of an hour away from my house. I thought that quite a drive back then. Nowadays 2 hours is far away, but still, it's doable.
In about 3 hours and 45 minutes you can drive north to south all the way through the Netherlands. That's about 400 km, if you don't count the islands. Shows how funny time-space compression actually is, right?
Anyway, I'm sure you'll see Alestorm one day live. Out of all bands in the world, still touring, which one would ya like to see the most?

Right how've I'd say Alestorm or Ensiferum or Insomnium. Lol 5 hrs takes me across the state. Don't worry I know how small Western Europe is compared to the states.

While I do like metal to a degree I never really got into it heavily. I was a grunge kid, right age, right time before moving on to punk a bit more seriously.
Some of the bands mentioned already I do like quite well, SOAD, Slipknot, Rammstein and wow, yeah Babymetal. Who knew? Cheers DJtommy!

So out of touch these days and living in the past, shit, I turned into my Dad. :D
