This guy got wired today. Pretty hard to see the details, but everything got lifted to start creating a taller tree. The little shoot low in the middle off the left trunk will probably be used as a sacrifice branch to see if I can get any thickening lower. I doubt that I'd keep it as a branch. Second photo is a possible new front. It shows off the movement a little better.

Love the pot color with the blossoms, it is too large for the tree. But I've gotten really strong growth out of this, so will keep it for now. I think it's too wide, but I don't want to go much shallower at all. I like the style of pot as well, but could see this tree in other shapes as well.

yeah - strong growth is always good! I like the color to but the pot dominates the image in my opinion. I look forward to the tree's future in your hands:D

Nice tree, I like the change, branches needed to go up a little. In no time this will be really nice. If you let it get about a third again taller, it will be big enough for this pot.

Yep you need that little low branch, or another near there to be a sacrifice to thicken lower trunk.

I have a 'autumnalis' but it is young yet, living in a 5 gallon pot to grow out. Bloomed in November, again during a thaw in Dec, and again in late March. March was a weaker bloom than November.

Exquisite flower shape!!!:cool:

The bark looks like it will acquire some unique, interesting characteristics with the passage of time.

With the pendulous nature of the flowers, I wonder if the tree could be presented with a slightly taller silhouette?:)

The pot is ok for now at this stage of development I figure, you did mention good growth. I've found crabapples seem to appreciate a bit deeper container. Maybe a bit too much!!:D:D:D:D

Flowers at all stages....these provide so much interest across their varied development. Pendulous pink against a fresh bloomed white....:oops::D:D:D:D

Did I mention I dig the flowers?:rolleyes::D:D:D:D:D:D

I'm working on this, it is in a deeper pot as they do better with deeper pots. Maybe someday I'll get it in something more size appropriate. But if I can grow it, then maybe it'll be the other way round.

You're welcome J. I'm happy to see the flowers, and a lot of the trees are starting to leaf!! Lucky to have a storage house with enough lighting to not do the shuffle...

Have you ever thought of making two out of one, like air-layering the trunk on the right and developping each of them separately?...

NOOOOOO0000 Not yelling, just can't even bring myself to think of that.
I am always on the lookout for a good single, but this one is special. I am thinking of changing the front at repot though....

Wow beautiful tree- Interestingly, I had some sand cherries in my yard , I thought about doing something with , and so now I am too getting into flowering/fruit trees, I have an apple tree, and I saw a gorgeous Pear tree at the nursery and am wondering about like a Bing cherry or a fruit cherry tree that is cold hardy to my zone.
