How long between collection and styling?
Hi Chicago,
Less time than you might think. The tree was collected in the spring of 2015, It grew strong that year and very strong in 2016. It was styled in late summer/fall 2016. The key to these trees is never a set amount of time, It's vigor. If the tree is healthy and vigorous it's ready to be styled. That said... I don't believe that you can really assess the vigor of a newly collected tree until it's been at least a couple of seasons after collection. They can fool you and look quite strong the first year, which sometimes they are, but it's better to play it safe. In other instances it may take several years for a collected tree to adjust and become vigorous.

new tree. Silver Leaf Oak. It is an evergreen drought oak, similar behavior to gray oak but they grow in higher altitude than gray oaks.
