I have this crape myrtle and would like to get some opinions on pots. Not sure what color the floweres are since I just got it. Looking for ideas on size and shape and maybe even color. I've found pictures of myrtles in a lot of round or oval pots and probably a little less in rectangle pots.
Since the tree has a round shape would it look better in a round pot or do you usually use a round pot when you don't have only one front?IMG_1800.JPG IMG_1801.JPG

You've got an informal, chunky trunk, so if it were my tree I'd go with a deep oval that is on the feminine side with a semi-gloss glaze.

Hard to discuss color without knowing the blooms, since this tree will really shine when in bloom and crape myrtles can be anything from white to pink, red or purple.

That's the kind of info I was hoping for thank you. I know color will have to be figured out once I know flower color. Plan on looking for a pot this year so next year at potting time I can get it out of this box.

I think this kind of thing is subjective...
Its a rather chunky girl, big flare. Round edges suggest feminine, big chunk trunk suggest strong though. So a deep oval or round, as Bonsai Nut said, would seem to fit well. Then the coloured is all on the colour of leaves and flowers, the bark looks flaky, slightly different colours as some has flaked off and most still on. Somethings to bear in mind.

I always think of old candles that have all that wax dripped and melted at the bottom when I see the deciduous trees with huge trunks and great roots, I love that. as if they are melting into the pot. What a wonderful tree, love it!

Montpelier maple.... super slow maple, single flush and more of a warmer climate maple. I'm considering putting it up for adoption to someone who wants it that is in a better climate for it's advancement. I can keep it happy, but the development in my shorter season is certainly snail-like.

I love fat bottom trees in pots like these...
