Creating an azalea

So today i bought this Girard's Rose azalea and styled it. It is not malleable when wiring which caused many accidents, then me becoming frustrated. I severely pruned the overgrown roots and foliage. I guess I am content with the end product, but a lot of branches snapped off that I didn't want taken off.
Two words
Accidents. Happen.

Could have been worse. If you can keep it alive it should back bud well as there will be plenty of sun light getting to the trunk.

I say good work and you learned some valuable lessons on how to break or not break branches. It does some practice.

For the most part, azalea bonsai are created by cutting them back and letting them grow back out again. Wire the soft green shoots BEFORE they lignify. After 6 weeks, remove wire. Cut back.
