Hi Al, just a question about construction of the tokonoma. Looks like two sheets of good quality plywood for the back = $100. Similar for the bottom = $100? Four panels of a shoji screen for the sides = $150? Does that sound about right? Looks like a do-able project, at $300 - $400 each x six, before you get to the display items. You guys must have invested some significant money in that event!

You forgot the most important part, the tatami matt. About 200.00 for a good bound one. The shoji's come from Cost Plus but come in a panel of three at about 100.00 on sale. You would need to buy two to get the four panels.

Sometimes you wonder what has happened to your scrolls...This one is a poem by Matsuo Basho. Which I have provided a translation of below.
If this was done in April...this nails the upcoming weeks into the season perfectly...I would have maybe put a different cloth on it
now, than I did then...but I know why I paired it with the blue leaf pattern cotton.

So a post in 2016... I'm seeing a tall cascade pot. Just made me pause...since many are getting away from the tall pots. Striking none the less...enjoyed going back and looking at these photos Al.
