Chicago,

language man, there are ladies reading. When you resort to such blue verbs it nullifies your content.
Are you about 20 or so ? -------------------as an example
Good Day

No, I am a 37 years old, married, family man, no kids, business owner, currently enrolled at the University of Chicago (Master program).

I guess when you reach such a level of assumption it nullifies your content.

Chicago,

teasing you [ this is the Internet you could be anything ]

My point was ---------- discussion or argument.

On our side when you acquire Yammadori, the jest is it needs a green hat.
Most of the time the design is already set from the root to trunk.

Anyone who grows from seed or cutting will not really take you seriously.
A seed or seedling or cutting is a blank canvas.
Complete control of the design.

Nice to have met you.
Good Day

Definitely have not lowered their tuition.

I don't see many Jack pine, but I do enjoy these ones I see every so often.

I'm always impress by the bark.

For me this European Hornbeam/Carpinus betulus, epitomizes what the naturalistic style is all about, a tree that looks like a tree that i'd see in my neighbourhood, out in the park or forest. this type of material i find immensely inspiring, im working on a few bits that could look similar....in time

this English Elm, Ulmus Procera is probably my best currently, in training and working on ramification/branch structure. it doesnt really have a front.. it looks good from all/most angles and thats one thing im trying to achieve with all of my trees.

... ...it also includes finding people who have trees you admire, and doing what they do. Personally, a lot of the trees posted here don't appeal to me. That's fine; it just means I don't take their advice because I don't want my tree to end up like theirs, and they probably won't end up with trees like mine... ...
Yes, Sir!
This is my unrealistic dream! Lots of reasons why it will remain unfulfilled...

It is really a great opportunity to have access to the internet and participating to fora like this one, where renowned bonsai teachers/artists share their valuable knowledge for free!

Countless heartfelt "thanksgiving" to all those great people who believe in the spirit of bonsai, like Saburo Kato has named it "Bonsai no Kokoro" and spread this spirit for free!

I think MichaelS post is Michael expressing his opinion on Bonsai Gardening and he has every right to do so here or on any other BN Thread...and he is mostly right re his post's content....

I think BVF also has the right to , in this case, try and bring MichaelS down for his post...however it shows a side of BVF that is not exactly Understanding of Bonsai Forum or Thread Discussion...

Why do you consider those trees so highly?

*shrug* Why is my favorite color blue and not green? I suppose I like them because they look very natural to me and speak to me in some way. I've seen the scots in person. I don't think the pics do it justice.

MichaelS said:
Your Black pine is a better tree than the Valavanis scots. No question. Tell me you see that! I'm not belittling anyone just stating a fact. Don't look at age look at qualities.

My tree has more dramatic movement but at this point, in my inexperience, I can't say it's better. I would appreciate your perspective on why you feel it's better.

Uh, Bolero? Why don't you post the One tree that says "Masterpiece" to you, and your best tree? I know you said you liked Vance's tree, but Frary beat you to it. Isn't there another tree that inspires you?

By the way, the tree I chose as my favorite is one that I have been able to see in person, up close, and over a period of years. Trees really do look different in person vs a photograph.

I think Bill has another Scots pine I like better than that one. But, true, pictures don't do them justice

Bolero,
I like your Koto-hime from this angle photo than the one you posted a few days ago. This one didn't show the crossed branch.

Yes same tree different angle of showing...The leaf coloring went from Pink Rose color to what you see in less than a week...

Ok...

So, how do the trees that inspire you relate to the trees on your bench? They're radically different.
