I read....listen....to his blog concepts and reasons when he does work on trees and then translate and relate that thought process to my own growing zone. He talks through his direction....I find that interesting to follow.

Hmm [ teasing Mike and Sorce ] I wonder if this is why Bonsai evolved in zone 7 and lower.:)

It's ok if you have tropical or live in a hot area.
Nothing he does pertains to what goes on in the north.
I've learned a lot from him, and I'm in Ohio. I love the fact that he prefers to apply techniques when he understands why they work, hence adamaskWHY.com

anyone up north you guys like better? I'd love to meet them to compare!

IMG_0228.JPG IMG_0231.JPG IMG_0232.JPG IMG_0233.JPG I'm a fan of the blog. I get something new from each one he does.
If he ever starts shipping trees I'm in trouble.
I love his work.

Not entirely true ... sure, it's a lot of ficus and other tropicals, but people do grow those up north.

But aside from the specific species he works with, there is a lot of great information packed into his posts, and he definitely does his homework on the details. For example, he's done entire posts where the focus is soil composition, or auxin/cytokinin, and other various technical details about plant physiology. And if nothing else, wiring is wiring, regardless of where you live, and you get to see lots of examples of good wiring in his posts.

It's one of the few blogs that I stop and read every time a new one comes out.

I would like to believe his sense of humor and humility applies to most zones.
Hello, I noticed that your picture shows a desert rose. Do you know how to trim the roots. They make wonderful bonsai looked at a lot of images on the internet. However, no info on how to trim the roots. thank you for any info. Very new to bonsai. Thank you

It does. Don't get me wrong.
It's just most of the material he works with isn't what is up here.
Yeah, yeah. Some people in cold climates have inside trees.
But they are under lights inside. Which is different than being outside year round.
I read his blog every so often.
It's cool.
And he's cool for sure.

My pic is actually a dorstenia gigas and not bonsai material (I think.) I'm new to bonsai and it's the only thing I got growing that is not cringe worthy. Regarding the desert rose, Wigert's in North Fort Myers has a mad collection. Give them a call/email or better yet make a day of it from Ocala, you would not regret it.

Adams blog is definitely a good source of information, you can't find anywhere else, entertaining too. Yet I always find myself wishing he could get his hands on more interesting species (deciduous or coniferous). Actually makes me thankful to be living in the frozen north.
