love to know more about this one, that thing is impressive. what are your plans for it?
I inherited this tree. It's been in the family for about 30 years. I don't have any definite style plans but will probably get some help from professionals with this one. I think it will get its first wiring within the next year.

Really?
What's the pot made out of?
Lead?

You are looking live at a 17" round Mica pot about 4-5" deep. Probably 7-10 lb.'s, it's huge!!!:(
Remember when you put Rupert in that tiny little bag pot? Well, he might be able to shoehorn his rear in this one and strike the same puppy-pose, today!!:oops::D:D:D:D:D:D

Had some large particle lava, pumice and akadama layin' around, so I used it as a "drainage" layer. That's a lot of pot, so I needed lots of soil.
And horror of horrors, I used two different soil mixes!!:eek::rolleyes::D:D:D:D Some turface, gravel and bark. I don't normally do this, but here, I did. Not worried. Had some large particles left, so I just threw it on the surface. And after a good watering-in, twice, let's just say we've made a pretty heavy piece of material!!:eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Where I work we move the parts around in fiberglass totes filled to 40 lb.'s, we had a new guy start recently and I informed him of the weight limit. I had him fill up four totes with different amounts.
I could tell the weight just by looking. I'm I not amazing, are you not entertained?o_O:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Been dragging those things around for 25 years!! Not so much these day's, which is ok.:)

40 lbs get's a certain "grunt".....60 gets a louder one!!!;):mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I actually did this last weekend and it's been outside since. Hasn't missed a beat. Colleagues and spouses had gone to Bonsai West and were charged up on free wine and focaccia.
So this one got re-potted...whether I was going to do it or not!!o_O:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I think it would take both of us.
I'm sure jamming him into a pot now would result in bleeding at the least.
Loss of digits would more than likely be the case.
Maybe I don't know what 80 pounds feels like when I pick it up.

Here's my big cypress. This was a topiary tree in the shape of a rooster. The head died and the nursery was dumping it. I got it for a song and have been cutting it back to this over several years. I just started removing bark to expose the live veins. That's a white oak volunteer that popped up three years ago. I almost weeded out the first year, but it now has five leaves and growing.

Throwing my wisteria into the ring here. It's not really in a proper bonsai pot as I'm not really sure it's worth the cost of something that large, so a pseudo-Asian thing from Ross will do. I dug it from a friends front yard about 8 years ago and cut it back to something decent looking, but it has since taken over its own styling with die-back and new shoots and I've mostly let it run amuck to see what happens. It was nicer before the apex died and since I've lost some interest in it, keeping it mostly for flowers. The jin looks nice but won't last much longer. I'm enjoying watching the trunk rot out - there originally was only one large trunk but it has split into two now. It looks nicely old and gnarly at this point. I repot infrequently and it typically blooms profusely every other year. This is an off year.
