Proper horticulture. Leaves look full and healthy. While the goal is a pleasing winter/twig display, blemish free leaves is the confirmation of good health.
Looks like it ain't missed a "meal"!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Judy, I'm in love with this tree, and your photography skills are also very good. I like the plant/pot combo- even tho the pot has sharp lines, there's something feminine about it... maybe it's the feet; at any rate, I think it matches the tree perfectly. The only thing I could say is if you could throw some backlight on that stand, it would pop off the background a little better. Thanks for sharing!

Funny the difference between american hornbeam is it has bright red tips on new growth and right now mine are going to need cut back again. Hornbeam or def a cool species.
