Hey guys, so I've been wanting to try out a Literati. Its one of those styles that I didn't really care for, but it has grown on me, especially the ones with the twisting turning trunks and bending back over apex. I came across 2 small options for potential long-term grow out projects. I figured starting with something this size would be better to be able to manipulate the trees as they grow. They are a shimpaku and a procumbens nana. Which do you guys think would be better for a long term 10 year project.

Procumbens Nana
12 inches tall
approx. 16 x 12 foliage spread
I like this one because of the low branch and possibly using it to thicken the trunk.

Shimpaku
Over 9 inches tall
Small trunk 1/4 inch
larger 2 trunks are 2 1/2 inch
Its shimpaku!!!

Thoughts? Suggestions? Which looks better in 10 years?

Literati is my favorite. It so much that when looking for new material I am constantly looking literati candidates. I have 3 possibly 4 that I have growing and I only train them with pruning no wiring.
I let it grow then make a selection cut the rest.

Rinse and repeat.

I have put wires on a couple of them and I always take them off because of the feeling I get of it not being natural.
