I figured I could start a thread on this little tree since it looks lime it's going to live.
It was just raw nursery stock last fall.
20160924_223341.jpg And then I went at it hard.
How it looked when I submitted it for judging.
All work was done in a couple hours.20161007_161138.jpg It lost a couple branches due to my handling.20170520_142656.jpg But what the hell. I did brutalize it.
It made it through winter great.
I did lose all of the scale foliage but knew that would happen.
It always does when you stress procumbens nana.
It'll grow back.
This is today.
I put it into this pot 3 weeks ago.
It's doing fine and growing.20170722_133249.jpg

I need to tighten the canopy up.
Chase the foliage back some to get a top on the trunk that isn't so wide.
That will have to wait until next year. It's had enough this year already.

Glad to see it recovered well this season, procumbens seem pretty strong.
They are for me.
Some people have problems with them though.
I treat them rough and they bounce back.
I really like the damn things because they are the one juniper that can be found at regular nurseries with regularity. They have small juvenile and scale foliage.
They're cheap.
And can be worked into a decent looking tree fairly fast.

Start it's own thread.
Maybe someone will give you some pointers.

I only find the nana versions here and they are all rather small without decent trunk size for shohin thats why i planted one in full ground last year to grow some and it does !
