Grant - did you decide against the low chop? As Eric mentioned, let it grow if you want to fatten it up. Pick a leader up top and let it run. Looks very healthy.

Yes I decided against the low chop. I'm not really going for a sumo with this one. I wanted to start developing branches. I may regret it later, but it's the path I chose and I'm currently happy with it, lol.

I like the current structure as well, especially with the strong first branch. I thought maybe you wanted to bulk it up with the large grow pot. it will look great in a few years as branches develop.

Update: Got the last of the leaves cut off and shortened a couple shoots. Now I have to do a little selection, and it’ll need a some more structural wire eventually. I think it did pretty well for one year. I’m considering putting it in a training pot when repot season comes around since all the big wounds have healed and the main branches are good to go for the most part.

Nice....thanks for taking all the detail photos of growth and progress. Photos help me follow along better...and give me insight into pruning and cutting I may do on my own trees. Dry helpful. Mighty fine work you’re doing!

I've bookmarked this thread for 2025. Often the best quality solution is rarely the fastest.

Hmmmm...2025...we’ll probably have thought illuminates and gaze upon holograms so we can manipulate our total view and feast on possible changes simply by thinking of them. I might have an over active imagination.
