All the leaves are the same color with the the longest day sun until about 12:30 but gotta monitor that to be certain of its sun hours it gets shaded out by a big tree and my house before the sun is at max for sure

You might be right that the amount of sun is playing part in the color of the leaves...
going to figure out how much sun it gets on a sunny day

2 houses next to me not at the tree shade side has a older same cultivar type of maple wich looks to be more to the purple tough im sure that tree gets more sun then mine

I've got some coming from seeds, morning sun. My mother has got one man sized ornamental tree in her south front porch. No one is as nice red as yours, cool.

Almost all of these from seed are a different color. When you get a nice one like that you clone it. You may not see another with the same color. Love this one!

He didn't say it's from seeds (or I missed smthg) ;)

Anyway, there are several outstanding maple tree nurseries in the Netherlands, and the climate is apparently much better to grow Acer palmatum cultivars than in Marseilles, Palermo or Miami - see what I mean.

Yes!

Ah, yes, he did say it was layered above the graft. I have only grown seedlings from a tree that is a cross between atropurpureum and a green. About one in a hundred seeds come out in the red color, often reverting to green after a season or two. The reds are weak until the third or fourth season, but grow well once they're established.

I did put wire on the trunk above the graft yes next spring ill dig it out to see if roots are formed above the graft

Ill try to root some twigs next season
Also going to monitor the sun hours next year to see how much it affects the collor of the leaves

Hi Defra,
Um, I have a problem with this cultivar, as my plant is cutting based and has very purple stems and leaves.
Spring here but I can post photos when it leafs out.
So not to rain on your parade but as this is grafted?, I wonder if it is a cultivar called 'Pixie' or similar with red leaves.
But hey I am also struggling because this cultivar (photo) shows what looks like green stems?

Good news- lol , great tree with lovely red leaves.
